I often get asked “Don’t you use a lot of ink printing all those coupons?” Ink is really expensive, and can quickly eat into all your coupon savings. Well, I thought I would share with you what we do to save $$ on ink.
One night Sarah was searching ebay for ink, and she came across empty ink cartridges. So, she came up with the idea of buying them and recycling them at Staples. We buy them for $0.50 each, and then when you recycle them at Staples, they will give you $3 in store credit! You can recycle up to 10 each month. So basically, we spend $5 per month and receive $30 in store credit which is enough for a ink cartridge.
Now, you probably won’t need to buy a new ink cartridge each month, so what else can you do with that store credit? (store credit certificates are only good for 60 days) Staples often has items that are free after rebate or $1-$2 after rebate. They almost always have photo paper and copy paper that is $1 after rebate. So, you can just use your certificate to buy those items, them submit the rebates and receive a check in the mail that you can actually cash! So, you could actually make money doing this!
Well, now you know how we get our ink & copy paper to print all those coupons on the cheap!
